In Deuteronomy there is a lot of emphasis on worshipping the one true God. That is a topic that it’s worth all Christians thinking more about too. Are Christians playing fast-and-loose with the categories the Old Testament sets up? Is the Trinity compatible with what Moses says in Deuteronomy 6 ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.’? How does the Bible want us to think about God? How does Jesus fit in with that? As Sanders says this, he means that the disclosure in Scripture of God’s identity is complete, sufficient, and the way it is meant to be. Or, to put it another way, we could not have done a better job of revealing the Trinity if we wrote the Bible ourselves. When you really think about that statement, it leads to a realisation that, in Scripture, we have all the information that the True and Living God wants us to know.…
